A SHOW OF FIRE WITH AN ORCHESTRA
More often than other troupes, “The Fire People” appear on the streets. Despite the expensive permits and the attractive payments for corporate events, they throw a good party for the common passerby.
“We work not only to stage, and not only when we’re asked to. We could light up Patriarch Ponds one evening if the spirit moved us. It’s always nice to perform in front of an appreciative audience, and the strongest appreciation comes from those who happen to be close by.” As Aleksandr Kirillov (Gera), one of the troupe’s founders, puts it.
“The Fire People” is the brainchild of the mutual love of two young performers, Gera and Vika. These guys love fire so much that they even had their wedding during a fire show at the Tushinsky aerodrome, during the stuntman festival “Prometheus.” Gera sincerely believes that he holds in his hands the means to make the world better: “Fire has a strong attraction. It’s a live soul, and at the same time it’s primitive, like something form an earlier life.
“We made an agreement with fire and now it’s our partner. This unwieldy element and a small, unoffending clown trying to rein it in – an odd couple, don’t you think? These days a lot of people are just tired. We’ve grown up too much, and that really bothers us. With fire we warm hearts, burn away sadness, raze negative emotions and help the public travel through childhood. When the child in you awakens, even for half an hour, its like therapy for the soul. It takes spectators to an extraordinarily happy place, and together we dive into the history of fire, we improvise, we bring joy. We are the real secret cardinal of this festival, only it’s not grey, but orange.”
